About HCA Florida Minimally Invasive Urogynecology

At HCA Florida Minimally Invasive Urogynecology, we are dedicated to the special needs of women with pelvic floor disorders.

Pelvic floor disorders

About 25 percent of women in the U.S. experience at least one pelvic floor disorder such as incontinence or prolapse (displacement of the uterus or vaginal walls). Many of them believe that they have no choice but to endure their conditions quietly. This stems from the lack of knowledge about options available to this population.

Our goal

Our goal is to empower our patients by educating and raising awareness of the effective and minimally invasive treatment options that are available to them. We take the time to conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition and determine a plan of care.

Together, we will work with you to find the treatment plan that best suits your lifestyle—from non-surgical and surgical treatments to pelvic floor physical therapy and biofeedback. This helps our patients regain a quality of life that is free from any discomfort or embarrassment.

What is Urogynecology?

Urogynecology is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology focused on pelvic floor disorders. Urogynecologists are specifically trained to treat conditions such as:

  • Constipation
  • Difficulty emptying one’s bladder
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pelvic pain
  • Urinary and fecal incontinence

The two most common conditions are pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, which frequently occur together.

Some common risk factors for pelvic floor disorders are vaginal delivery, repetitive straining, heavy lifting, obesity, chronic cough, genetics, and severe constipation.
